Searches have been underway since yesterday after well-known and highly-respected hotel director Dinis Pires went missing from his home in Loulé.
Pires, 53, who has worked in a number of 5-star hotels in the Algarve and Alentejo has been described as “considered by many (to be) the most competent of hotel managers in Portugal”. This accolade can be found online in a tweet posted by the Hilton Vilamoura in the summer of 2019.
But something must have happened yesterday morning as he was loading wood into his house in Monte Seco. Family members also bringing wood arrived at the house to find the door ajar and no sign of Mr Pires.
Local people, members of his family and friends along with GNR agents and municipal bombeiros have been searching ever since with the help of a heat-seeking drone – but so far no sign.
Concerned posts over Facebook share a sense of deep concern and disbelief, all essentially saying “if anyone knows of Dinis Pires’ whereabouts, please get in touch”.
