UK-based readers Ray and Lynne Green, who have been holidaying in the Algarve since 1976 and are this year celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary here, emailed the Algarve Resident this week.
They would like to share their story with us and other readers.
“We first came to the Algarve in 1976 and, as a young couple in our early 20s, it was our second holiday away together,” say the couple, who come from Liverpool.
“We stayed in Alvor, then a sleepy fishing village, at the Torralta complex. It was a beautiful holiday… we remember the bullring at the back of the complex (now gone!). We used to walk up to it and then down into the village to walk around the harbour in the evening.”
The Greens have travelled to many countries since then and did not return to the Algarve until 1995. “We have been coming back a few times a year ever since always regretting not coming back sooner,” they said.
This year they will be landing on Portuguese soil on July 29 to enjoy over two weeks’ holidays in the Algarve, their “favourite place”.
“This year we celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and we could not think of a nicer place to be,” said Ray and Lynne.
“We will be staying in Quinta do Lago and Vilamoura because we like to move about.”
The couple say they always buy the Algarve Resident when they are over in the Algarve because they “love reading it”.
“When we are over, maybe we will see ourselves in the paper. What a surprise that would be for my wife!” said Ray.
The Algarve Resident team wishes Lynne and Ray a most enjoyable holiday in their favourite place!
