New Year’s Eve in Albufeira
Taking advantage of New Year’s Eve falling on a weekend, Albufeira Câmara has announced three days of festivities including some very special live music.
On December 29, André Sardet will play songs from his double platinum selling album Acústico (Acoustic) in the Largo Eng. Duarte Pacheco from 10pm.
Luís Represas will perform at the Albufeira Marina from 10pm on December 30, but the main event will be held on New Year’s Eve itself at Praia dos Pescadores, more commonly known as Fishermen’s Beach.
Warming up the crowds from 10pm will be Boss AC, a Portuguese hip-hop group, who will be followed, as always, by a fireworks display, which will be set off from five points between Praia da Oura and the harbour.
Following the fireworks, Melanie C will take to the stage to entertain the crowds at Fishermen’s Beach, where she will sing new songs as well as old favourites.
New Year’s Eve in Albufeira is a night not to be missed and entry to all concerts over the three days is free.
Elsewhere in the Algarve, there will be a party in Largo de São Francisco in Faro, on December 31, entry is free. The Resident will bring you more details as they become available.
In Olhão, there will be live music next to the shore from 11pm, with a fireworks display after midnight, entrance is free.
Fine New Year’s Dining
New Year’s Eve at the Monte do Casal hotel in Cerro do Lobo, near Estoi, also promises to be special. Enjoy a Champagne and canapé reception, seven course gala dinner with wine, coffee and petit fours. There will be live entertainment from Jorges Soares playing the best of the 60s. A ticket for Monte do Casal New Year’s Eve party is priced at 148 euros per person (dress code: black tie).

Vila Vita Parc in Porches is offering a two-day package at the hotel over the New Year period. An extravagant New Year’s Eve dinner will be prepared for guests, as well as many other perks over the two days. Prices start at 330 euros per person.

Vila Monte resort near Faro will serve an exquisite New Year’s Eve meal from 7.30pm. Deposits are required and tickets are priced at 120 euros. Children will also be catered for with a large buffet at 30 euros per person.

In Vale do Lobo, a three course New Year’s dinner will be served at La Terrazza restaurant in the Praça. After watching the fireworks display on the beach, the party will move next door to Monty’s, where the New Year’s drinks will flow and music will put you in the mood to celebrate. The price for dinner is 75 euros.

Destino restaurant in Lagos and Calabaza restaurant in Praia da Luz will celebrate New Year’s Eve in style with a festive dinner and champagne on arrival. Dinner costs 90 euros per person and includes wine, as well as a selection of other beverages. A vegetarian option is available on request. Lagos’ Estrela do Mar restaurant will offer a luxury menu on New Year’s Eve and live music throughout the evening courtesy of Irish duo Klonakilty.
