Weekend weather: Time to head south again as rain is expected in northwest coast

While hot and sunny weather is expected in the Algarve and inland areas of the country, rain and milder temperatures are predicted for the northwest coast, according to forecasts by the Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
This Saturday, August 9, maximum temperatures of 23ºC are expected in Porto and Viana do Castelo, 27ºC in Lisbon and Coimbra, 28ºC in Leiria, 29ºC in Faro and 32ºC in Évora, Beja, and Castelo Branco.
Rain may fall, however, in the areas of Porto, Viana do Castelo, Leiria and Coimbra, although wind is expected to be weak to nearly non-existent in most of the country.
On Sunday, temperatures are expected to be similar although rainfall is no longer expected.
In the Madeira and Azores islands, maximum temperatures will be around 26ºC-27ºC although clouds and rain are expected on Saturday.
UV levels will “very high” this weekend throughout most of the country, so people are warned to take adequate sun protection.
