Summer may not have started yet, but Portugal will be getting a taste of it this weekend. Hot and sunny weather is forecast from north to south starting Saturday, with maximum temperatures reaching, and in some regions topping, the 30ºC mark.
The weather may still feel mild on Saturday as strong winds are expected and clouds may cover the skies along Portugal’s west coast. But by Sunday, the sun is expected to shine all across the country.
This early taste of summer is expected to continue until at least the start of June, according to forecasts.
However, the Portuguese Sea and Atmosphere Institute (IPMA) has warned that the hot weather means that the risk of fires will be “high” or “very high” in most of the country.
