Weekend weather: Rain expected for election weekend

With abstention already expected to reach “record levels” (click here) on Sunday (October 4), meteorologists have put further dampeners on election day by forecasting rain throughout Portugal.

Clouds, which started to move in today, are to remain for the whole weekend, with maximum temperatures expected to reach 24ºC in Faro, 25ºC in Lisbon and 22ºC in Porto, says sea and atmosphere institute (IPMA).

But while rain is only a possibility on Saturday, it is pretty much guaranteed for Sunday – the day most people are described as “too fed up or disillusioned” to vote.

Whether this will be the case remains to be seen.
