Portugal is set to enjoy a sunny and warm weekend with temperatures exceeding 20ºC more or less throughout the country, according to the latest forecasts from the Portuguese Sea and Atmosphere Institute (IPMA).
The early taste of spring means that maximum temperatures are expected to reach 21ºC in Faro, 23ºC in Lisbon, 21ºC in Porto and even 24ºC in some areas of the Alentejo such as Beja and Évora.
Cold weather may persist in northern areas of Guarda and Bragança, where minimum temperatures are still in the 3ºC-4ºC range.
IPMA also forecasts completely clear skies. But anyone thinking of going to the beach should watch out. Faro district is under yellow alert till 6pm on Saturday with waves of up to two and a half metres expected.
