Rain looks unlikely to be a valid excuse for what promises to be a low turnout at Portugal’s presidential elections on Sunday (January 24).
Meteorologists suggest it will just be a grey ol’ day, with maximum temperatures ranging between 14ºC and 20ºC, and the probability of rain “below 10%”.
Whether this will encourage people to go out and vote – changing 2011’s 50%-plus abstention levels – remains to be seen.
Saturday is expected to be the gloomiest day of the weekend, with most of the country expecting heavy clouds … and a chance of rain.
