September is here and with it come hotter temperatures that are likely to reach 32ºC in the Algarve.
According to forecasts, maximums will reach at least 32ºC in the Algarve, 34ºC in Lisbon, 35ºC in the Alentejo and 30ºC in Porto.
Beachgoers will be happy to hear that the seawater in the Algarve will also be especially warm (23ºC), but they must take adequate sun protection as UV exposure is expected to be “very high” in virtually all of Portugal.
And while the Algarve is enjoying sunny weather today and likely tomorrow, most of Portugal is due to be covered by “high clouds” on Sunday.
Meantime, Portugal’s sea and atmosphere institute (IPMA) also warns that several boroughs in the Algarve and centre of Portugal are at maximum risk of wildfires today.
These include Castro Marim and Alcoutim in the Algarve, Marvão and Gavião in Portalegre, Abrantes and Ferreira do Zêzere in Santarém, Vila de Rei in Castelo Branco, Alviázere and Figueiró dos Vinhos in Leiria.
