Weekend weather: Hurricane Joaquin brings bad weather to Portugal

While it is no way near as powerful as it was when it hit the Bahamas and east coast of America, the remnants of Hurricane Joaquin are still forecast to bring bad weather to Portugal this weekend.

Now classed as a “tropical storm”, Joaquin is steadily losing steam, says Portuguese sea and atmosphere institute IPMA.

When it reaches Portugal on Saturday (October 10), it is expected to provoke a generally rainy weekend, with moderately strong winds and waves.

The bad weather will continue through Sunday but should improve next week.

Maximum temperatures will be no higher than 21ºC in Faro, 22ºC in Lisbon and 20ºC in Porto, with minimum temperatures of 18ºC likely in Faro and Lisbon and 15ºC in Porto.
