The Algarve is expecting a weekend of pleasant beach weather with clear blue skies and temperatures ranging from 27ºC to 30ºC unlike most of the rest of Portugal which is in for gloomy weather and milder temperatures.
The forecast was made this morning by meteorologist Maria João Frada from Portugal’s sea and atmosphere institute (IPMA).
Apart from the Algarve, where Portimão’s civil protection services have even put out a warning about the “hot and dry weather” expected this weekend, only some inland areas of the Alentejo are also expecting warm and sunny weather while the rest of the country seems like it is still stuck in spring.
In fact, Frada explained that the lack of truly hot days in Portugal this summer is quite rare.
“We cannot predict when the situation will change. There shouldn’t be any significant changes at least until midway next week. Maybe there will be a temperature increase at the end of the week,” she said.
