Weekend weather: Goodbye to October’s balmy Indian summer

Hopes that October’s balmy Indian summer might continue over the weekend have been dashed by weatherman who predict that temperatures will drop by 2ºC-6ºC throughout Portugal, with the Algarve (as usual) coming off best.
IPMA’s meteorologist Ricardo Tavares said on Friday: “Maximum temperatures will be dropping on Saturday (October 4) a little throughout the country, mostly in the coastal northern and central areas. Temperatures will drop between 4ºC and 6ºC in these areas and 2ºC and 3ºC in the rest of the country.”
In the Algarve, 28ºC is the maximum temperature expected today (Friday, October 3) but the forecast drops to 27ºC for Saturday and 26ºC for Sunday.
In Lisbon and Coimbra, the drop in temperature will be much more noticeable and there may even be some brief periods of rain along Portugal’s west coast.
In the islands of Madeira and Azores, temperatures are expected to remain constant, with Madeira at 25ºC-27ºC, with clear or partially-clouded skies, and the Azores’ slightly cooler and with more cloud.
