The 21st edition of the Seafood Festival, which began on Thursday, August 10, will continue until Tuesday in Olhão.
Câmara President, Francisco Lela, was said to be very excited as he was sure the event would be “a success, especially with Tony Carreira playing on Friday”. The Village People will perform on Saturday night and, on August 15, the stunning voice of Brazilian Daniela Mercury will provide a special treat for people in the dining area.
This year, the investment into the festival was a total of 700,000 euros, due to the fact that, over the years, the popularity of this festival has grown so much that organisers usually expect around 60,000 people over the five days.
Entry to the festival costs 11 euros and includes a souvenir mug, a plate of prawns and a drink. For children aged eight and under, entry is free. The Seafood Festival is located at the Jardim Pescador in Olhão.
Another gastronomical delight will end this Sunday (August 13), so if you are in the Portimão area and are a lover of fish, do not miss out on the extremely popular Sardine Festival!
Seven restaurants will be cooking up a storm in the riverfront area of Portimão, which will have around 2,200 seats, and the impressive view of the Arade river will make the evening all the more enjoyable. The festival menu costs six euros and includes six sardines, bread, salad and a drink, but for those who are not so keen on sardines, there is an alternative menu available with many other regional fish to enjoy.
This evening (August 11), Canta Bahia will perform from 10pm and tomorrow, at the same time, Roberto Real will take the stage, with the final night’s music provided by Martinho da Vila.
Entry into the Sardine Festival costs 3.5 euros and children under 10 have free admission. Doors open at 6pm and close at midnight.
