Wednesday’s Covid bulletin sees Portugal’s Rt and incidence rates reduce

Slowly Portugal’s ‘Covid numbers’ seem to be inching in the right direction: Rt (transmission) and incidence continue to fall (they are pegged at 0.92 and 384.5 cases per 100,000 citizens respectively); hospital numbers are falling, and the risk matrix shows indicators well out of the red zone and into the orange (click here). The last 24-hours however have seen 15 deaths – the majority (11) in patients over the age of 80, three in patients in their 70s and one in a patient aged between 60 -69. Infection numbers have been translated as showing more young people now are infected than the elderly. Young people however are tending to recover after testing positive, the majority of them very quickly.
