IPMA (sea and atmosphere institute) says maximum temperature records were broken yesterday in 13 weather stations. The area with the highest temperature was Lousã, recording 46.3ºC. Up till now, the maximum temperature ever recorded in Portugal has been 47.3ºC, recorded in Amareleja (Beja district) on August 1, 2003.
