Web summit, the tech fair that descends on Lisbon every November – resulting in tens of thousands of foreign visitors and a welcome off-season slice of tourism revenue – is extending to Brazil, a development that has apparently left Lisbon mayor Carlos Moedas ‘irritated’. According to Expresso today, Web Summit coordinator Paddy Cosgrave didn’t warn Moedas of the change until the 11th hour – and it will almost certainly mean less visitors from across the Atlantic, if not this year, certainly next. The Brazil Web Summit is scheduled for March 2023.
