“We will ensure rate of consumer inflation comes down to 2%” vows ECB president

The European Central bank will “go as far as necessary to achieve its central goal of ensuring that the rate of consumer inflation comes to its 2% target in the medium term”, the institution’s president Christine Lagarde has told the ongoing financial forum in Sintra today. But she gave no indication how long this process will take. Ms Lagarde acknowledged inflation in the eurozone is “undesirably high”, predicting it “will remain so for some time”, reports Lusa.
