“We are a long way from having a relaxed summer” says Covid ‘head honcho’ Graça Freitas

On a day when the World Health Organisation has said incidence and deaths from Covid-19 are reducing, Portugal’s Covid head honcho, DGS director general Graça Freitas has said: “We are a long way from having a relaxed summer”. In Ms Freitas’ eyes, the pandemic is still with us; SARS-CoV-2 is having ‘very elevated transmission’; the Easter period should not be a time for hugging friends or family, and her forecasts for the summer are that measures of combat should remain uppermost in people’s minds and behaviour.
