Wave action

This weekend sees the return of last year’s popular SurfSki Race of Champions to the Portimão area.

Around 100 of the sport’s top performers are expected to compete for the €6,000 in prize money spread over several events.

One of the highlights will be tomorrow’s (Saturday) 10km Downwind Ocean Race between Alvor and the Portimão marina while Sunday features the ‘Live Saving’ event off Praia da Rocha which originated on the beaches of Southern Australia.

Organisers consider Portimao the ideal location for the event both in terms of geography and infrastructure and are hoping that competitors and spectators will derive maximum enjoyment from the two days of ocean-based action.
