Waterfront works close to completion

Improvement works on Alvor’s waterfront between Prainha and the estuary, including a wooden walkway 2.8km long, are close to completion.

ARH, the Algarve’s water authority, and Portimão Câmara are responsible for carrying out the works, which will enhance this area’s natural beauty.

A spokesman from Portimão Câmara said: “The walkway will have several exits to the beach and the Alvor waterfront area.”

In the second phase of the project, 3,000 parking spaces will be created through the redevelopment of the existing spaces between the beach and the waterfront.

ARH is also planning to build a park for motor homes, a support structure for windsurfing and kite surfing, the dredging of Ria de Alvor and the upgrading of the local sports complex.
