PORTIMÃO IS due to have the largest water treatment station (ETAR) in the Algarve, with nearly 200,000 users by next year and a total investment of 17.5 million euros.

Following years of discussions, Portimão Câmara has agreed the conditions under which water company, Águas do Algarve, will manage the ETAR and construction is due to begin before the end of the year. The site will be alongside the existing ETAR and will service Portimão, Monchique, Ferragudo, Parchal and Estombar.
