Algarve Câmaras owe €67 million to water treatment and supply company Águas do Algarve (AdA). According to AdA, of the total money owed, more than €31 million refer to water supply services and €30.9 to the treatment of waste water. The origination of the rest of the debt is not specified in the AdA report. The company has admitted that the debt is leading to project delays, particularly those to do with sanitation, such as the Portimão and S. Marcos da Serra water treatment plants ETAR, costing €20 million and €900,000 respectively.
