Water cuts illegal on Fridays and before Bank Holidays

Water regulatory authority ERSAR has decreed that cuts by supply companies initiated on Fridays or before Bank Holidays should be illegal. The ruling is likely to come into effect this year, while ERSAR also hopes to ensure that supply companies give households 20 days notice before turning off people’s taps. The reason, says the regulator, is that water supplies are controlled by monopolies, and consumers therefore need reinforced protection.
