Warship

ONE OF Russia’s most technologically advanced cruisers, Moskva (Moscow), arrived in Lisbon on Friday to take part in a series of exercises with the Portuguese navy.

It is the first time that a warship from the Russian Federation’s Black Sea Fleet has visited Portugal to take part in exercises.

Over the weekend, the 9,800 ton displacement ship, which is 186.5 metres long and 20.8 metres wide, was open for guided visits by the public at its anchor place at Cais da Rocha do Conde de Óbidos.

On Monday, the warship took part in exercises with the Portuguese frigate Álvares Cabral, to test a new system of communication aimed at preventing accidents at sea.
