Thanks to Almancil International Rotary Club (AIRC) and Penguinaircon of Almancil, Associação Esperança e Paz (Association of Hope and Peace) based in Loulé will be warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
The association is run entirely by volunteers who provide occupational therapy, meals and emotional support to individuals and families with problems ranging from poverty to mental disabilities and people who are going through difficult times in their lives.
They also provide bathroom and laundry facilities for those who do not have sufficient amenities at home.
Following a visit to the association by AIRC community services members Peter Hinze and Raymond Parfait, Sra Lídia Costa, who heads the team of volunteers, mentioned that in winter it was very difficult to keep warm and, similarly in summer, the building becomes unbearably hot.
Penguinaircon was approached and the company provided a state-of-the-art air conditioning unit to AIRC at cost price and Chris Blackburn, owner of the company, installed the unit completely free of charge.
