East Algarve Walking Football, who in the light of the coronavirus Cov-19 pandemic have suspended all activities, are offering to help those in need of support by collecting shopping, picking-up mail, delivering urgent supplies or just make a friendly phone call to those in self-isolation.
Chris Wright, president EAWF, said: “I saw that a couple from Falmouth, Cornwall, had produced a postcard that offered help and also spread some kindness in these troubled times. What a great idea, especially as some of the expat community here could be feeling even more isolated. It is important that those of us who can support the wider community.”
EAWF covers Olhão, São Brás, Fuzeta, Tavira and the surroundings areas. To get the message out to those without internet access, posters are being displayed on community noticeboards, in shops and in cafes. It is hoped that other groups will follow suit.
