Walkers test new monumental trees route

A group of walkers will be testing a new 4km route to admire Monchique’s monumental trees on Sunday.

Participants will be guided by Stephen Hugman, from Associação Nossa Terra (Our Land association), and Miguel Rodrigues from Associação Árvores de Portugal (Trees of Portugal association).

The Route of the Most Emblematic Monumental Trees will complement the Via Algarviana (Algarve Way), a pedestrian route that spans the Algarve, and is expected to improve the tourist offer in the Monchique council.

The experimental walk will later be included in the future Monumental Trees Route.

The meeting point on Sunday will be the Monchique tourist office at 9.30am. Cost per participant is €3 for members of Almargem and the abovementioned associations and €8 for non-members.

A lunch will be held after the walk at Poço da Serra restaurant (€10 per person). Places at the restaurant are limited so advance booking is advised.
