Walk the rocks in Portimão

WALKING THROUGH one of the most spectacular rocky landscapes of Portimão’s coast line is enough motivation for those who enjoy being outdoors at the weekend. But having the chance to observe different species of birds while at it, is probably an even greater motivation for a weekend escape.

That is the suggestion of Liga para a Protecção da Natureza (LPN), one of the most recognised, non-profit making organisations dedicated to environmental protection in Portugal.

Observing what remains of the Mediterranean brushwood, which once dominated the cliffs, and the existing bird habitats are part of the programme. The walk will take participants up and down several valleys until they reach Prainha beach, an effort compensated by the fantastic views of the ocean.

Guided by Filipe Jorge from LPN, the walk takes place on May 5, starting point is the railway station in Portimão at 9am.

If you would like to join LPN in this walk, call 969 158 930 until noon on May 4. LPN recommends participants to take comfortable clothes and shoes, water and an afternoon snack.
