Nearly €1,100 was raised for the Algarve Oncology Association (AOA) during a charity walk/run event organised by the Algarve Biomedical Center (ABC) and the Algarviana Team sports and cultural association.
The event was held on October 23 at the Gambelas campus of the University of Algarve in Faro and was attended by 155 people.
Apart from raising much-needed funds for AOA, the event also aimed to raise awareness about breast cancer prevention and promote outdoor physical activity.
A “symbolic cheque” was handed by doctor Joana Apolónia from ABC to AOA president Maria de Lurdes Santos Pereira on Monday, November 21.
