A walk between Quarteira and Vilamoura has been organised by the Algarve Oncology Association (AOA), a regional cancer charity, for June 28 as part of its summer campaign against skin cancer.
This event, which is being organised in partnership with the Enolagest/Garvetur Group, Avène skin care company, HagáBê computer company and Loulé Câmara, will start opposite the Lendário restaurant in Quarteira at 9.30am, although participants may start arriving from 8.30am.
Registration to take part in the walk costs eight euros for adults and three euros for children up to the age of 12, with funds raised reverting to Casa Flor das Dunas, an AOA project to build a temporary accommodation unit near the Radiotherapy department of Faro hospital for patients who are receiving cancer treatment.
Participants will each receive a t-shirt, a hat, water, an identification bracelet and promotional merchandise as well as being given advice about skin cancer prevention before, during and after the walk. Registration forms are available from all of the Garvetur offices across the Algarve as well as from the AOA.
