Vila Real de Santo António is about to host an ‘International Theatre Festival’ at the António Aleixo cultural centre.
The event begins on Thursday, March 16 with Spanish group ‘Tesperté Circo Teatro’ presenting ‘Oopart’ at 6.30pm. Admission will be free as it is the opening play.
Two days later (March 18), Setúbal-based ‘Espelho Mágico’ will be bringing its interpretation of ‘The Little Prince’, by French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, to the stage.
On Friday, March 24, two actors and a pianist from Porto’s ‘Teatro de Ferro’ will tell the story of Carla Cosmonauta, a young girl who embarks on an “interstellar trip”, while a day later (March 25), a comedy entitled ‘Memórias Partilhadas’ (Shared Memories) will be enacted by ‘Teatro de Montemuro’.
There will be three other performances – ‘A Fada Oriana’ by ‘Teatro II Acto’ on March 27; ‘Elas…As’ by ‘Fechó Pano’ on March 30; and ‘Filho da Treta’ by José Pedro Gomes e António Machado on April 1.

The event is part of the 365 Algarve programme, designed to boost the region’s cultural agenda during the low season.
