Following re-election, the mayor of Vila Real de Santo António has said that he wants to work on the renovation of the city’s riverside area.
“In the next four years, we are going to renew the Guadiana riverfront, whereby all public spaces in that area will be affected including the Ponta da Area, where the construction of a tourist area and accommodation are planned,” said Luís Gomes.
He added, however, that the renovation project will not affect the surrounding countryside, which he said is a “benefit to tourism” and will be maintained and sustained.
