VRSA celebrates Carnaval in style

Carnaval is just round the corner, and towns across the Algarve are starting to unveil what they have planned as celebrations.

In Vila Real de Santo António there will be a series of parades and ‘bailes’ (traditional dance parties) taking place between Friday, February 24 and Tuesday, February 28.

On Friday, February 24, a parade of schoolchildren will begin at 9.30am in Vila Nova de Cacela and include stops in Vila Real de Santo António and Monte Gordo.

Two other parades are planned, the first starting at 3pm at VRSA’s Avenida da República on Sunday, February 26 and the other also at 3pm at Monte Gordo’s Avenida Marginal two days later.

For those looking to show off their costumes and enjoy some dancing, there will be a series of ‘bailes’ taking place at VRSA’s cultural centre – on February 25, 26, 27 and March 4 starting at 9.30pm – and at Monte Gordo’s western riverside area – on February 25, 26, 27 starting at 10pm, and on February 28 at 5pm.
