PORTUGAL’S MOBILE communications market is expected to stagnate next year as the global financial crisis affects the sector.
António Coimbra, a Vodafone Portugal executive board member, said that the company was already experiencing a shrinking demand from the commercial sector while the number of contract cancellations and non payments continues to rise.
“Next year, Portugal’s mobile phone market should remain flat,” he said. “We have signs of retraction in the corporate segment, less in the residential segment, but it is to be expected that it will follow the same trend.”
