At the end of March, Valverde Lawn Bowls Club in Almancil welcomed the new French International Lawn Bowls squad and their trainer.
The object of the three-day visit was to give the squad extra practice on grass and for the trainer to finalise the team selection for the international competition to be held in Cardiff, Wales, in May of this year.
Seven ladies and five men, all aged between 20 and 38, gave the Valverde BC members a lesson on how to be fit to play the sport! Their pre-match training session would be difficult for most of our members, average age 70.
