Water supply company Águas do Algarve is opening the doors of the Odelouca Dam to the public on July 6 from 10am to 5pm.
The Odelouca Dam, which supplies water exclusively to the Algarve region, represents an investment of around €76 million.
Preliminary studies on the Odelouca project began in 1972 with an environmental impact assessment conducted between 1997 and 1999.
Construction work began in 2001 and at the end of 2006 the project was transferred to Águas do Algarve. Work was finally concluded in 2009 and last year the dam began supplying water.
Members of the public are not required to pre-book their visit.
