Stark proof that Covid-19 is indirectly killing more people than those who contract it seems to have emerged today with new data on the number of ‘additional’ deaths in the first six months of 2020, compared to the same period in 2019.
Say reports, there has been an 11% rise in the number of deaths this year. In numbers this works out at 3,281.
Only 1,576 have been attributed to Covid-19 in this same period – meaning 1,707 will have been from ‘other causes’.
Negocios online stresses that up till May 31, hospitals were actively reducing the numbers of people able to use them. Consultations were slashed by 902,000 while there were 85,000 surgeries ‘put on hold’.
