Two houses were left ‘uninhabitable’ following the tornado that hit Vilamoura last night.
A family of three, living in one of the houses had to spend the night elsewhere, while the mother, a Portuguese woman described only as Manuela, was treated for injuries sustained from flying glass.
Elsewhere, trees were toppled as high winds and driving rain lashed the area, a little before 7pm last night.
The authorities have been on high alert, advising caution to pedestrians and drivers, since last night. Weather warnings continue throughout the day and householders are advised to stay tuned to news bulletins.
