The Vilamoura XV Rugby Club began the season in the First Division B National Championship with a comfortable win against Montemor RC recently. Taking advantage of the strong wind on its back in the first half, the home team played excellent rugby and managed to get to the try line five times. Home team tries were scored by Romeu Paun, Jason Arnold, Vitali Scerbina, Vladimir and Miguel Caldeira, with two tries converted by left wing Ruben Xarepe. This is a promising start for the Algarve-based club, which hopes to consolidate and establish itself among the First Division rugby clubs in Portugal’s National Championships.
