Vilamoura Marina receives highest accolade in the industry

5 Gold Anchor Platinum accreditation is only awarded to the very best marinas

Vilamoura Marina has become the first marina in Portugal to receive the 5 Gold Anchor Platinum accreditation, described as the highest accolade in the industry.

The distinction is attributed by The Yacht Harbour Association and is reserved for marinas which “offer their customers a comprehensive unique marina experience by providing tailored personalised service and an outstanding array of high-quality facilities and amenities.”

Only 10 marinas and docks boast this accreditation in the world.

To earn this badge of honour, Vilamoura Marina says it had to stand out for its construction design; infrastructure and other first-class characteristics; customer support through a concierge service dedicated to meeting the needs of every client; and quality facilities, providing a luxury experience for clients.

This certification reflects the level of what we have to offer and the quality of our infrastructures, as well as the constant work and dedication of the entire team involved, whose effort is entirely focused on delivering service excellence,” said Vilamoura World Board Member, Isolete Correia.

“Receiving this accreditation means that we achieved an extremely high score in every evaluation category,” the marina adds in a statement.

The Gold Anchor is a global marina accreditation designed to “improve marina standards and the experience of marina users.

“Gold Anchor marinas are subject to independent audit(s) by industry experts and on-going verification including customer surveys. Gold Anchor accreditation operates in a similar way to the star rating system for consumers selecting guest accommodation. Any marina displaying the Gold Anchor accreditation has satisfied comprehensive external assessment of facilities, operations and customer service,” says TYHA.

Vilamoura Marina has a long history of winning international awards, having been named ‘International Marina of the Year’ by TYHA and the British Marine Federation in between 2015 and 2017, and again in 2019 and 2021.

The marina was also named the best in the world in 2022 at the Southampton International Boat Show.
