Top equestrians from all across the globe are travelling to the Algarve to participate in one of the most prestigious international horse riding competitions, the Vilamoura Atlantic Tour 2014.
The Dutch duo Harrie Smolders and Leon Thijssen, already pre-qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games, Dermott Lennon, former show jumping world champion, and Jessica Kuerten, former no.2 worldwide, are some of the talented riders competing over the next four weeks until March 9.
Roughly 750 horses have been brought in from 28 countries to take part in the 11 competitions which will all count for the FEI (International Equestrian Federation) rankings.
A total of €480,000 is available in cash prizes divided between the trials.
