Vila Vita Biergarten in Porches is planning to launch a take-away service on Tuesday, May 12, just one week before reopening its doors to the public on May 19.
The news has been confirmed by Vila Vita Parc in a statement to the press.
The take-away service will be ‘here to stay’ and will feature a menu with a selection of Bavarian specialties such as pork schnitzel with potato salad, the Biergarten’s famous pork knuckle with cabbage salad, Herren goulash with bread dumplings known as Knödel and a pasta dish called Schupfnudeln served with grilled vegetables.
Main dishes can be accompanied by a ‘soup of the day’ or the eatery’s popular Bretzels, while for dessert customers can enjoy a decadent homemade apple strudel.
To help wash it all down, customers can also choose from an “extraordinary selection of excellent German beers as well as the Porches Craft Beer” – Vila Vita Parc’s very own craft beer.
Orders can be placed by email or telephone between Tuesday and Saturday from 9am to 11am for lunch and from 9am to 6pm for dinner. Orders can also be made on Sunday but only after 3pm.
The meals must be picked up between 11am and 7pm of the same day. For groups of eight people or more, you must make your order 24 hours in advance.
Or, if you’d prefer to enjoy your meals at the Biergarten, the eatery will be reopening on Tuesday, May 19 albeit with a series of restrictions in place.
The Biergarten says it will be implementing “rigorous precautionary measures” and will follow the guidelines released by the Portuguese hotel and restaurant association (AHRESP) in order to maintain its “high hygiene and quality standards”.
Meanwhile, the Vila Vita Metzgerei butcher has stayed opened throughout the lockdown and will continue to sell a variety of “high-quality cuts of meat” directly from the resort’s Herdade dos Grous estate in the Alentejo, some of them “transformed into German delicatessen specialties” by master butcher Thomas Weber.
