A fire that broke out yesterday afternoon (October 6) in a scrubland area near Sítio dos Pardieiros in Vila do Bispo was put out by 90 firefighters, using 28 vehicles and one helicopter by midnight last night.
At one point, fears were that the blaze would spread to the neighbouring borough of Barão de São João, but once night fell the lower temperatures helped bring it under control.
Properties and homes escaped damage and there are no reports of any injuries.
