Two men died on Tuesday when the car they were travelling in careered off a viaduct near Loures and plunged 70 metres onto land below.
GNR police are investigating, saying the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
The accident happened in the early hours of the morning as engineer Amândio Rodrigues and colleague Rui Cavalheiro set out to check work on a building project in Cascais.
