Portugal’s ‘Ordem dos Médicos Veterinários’ (general veterinary council) has presented shepherd Dário Lima with a cheque for €6,349 with which he can replace the 68 goats lost in a freak lightning strike earlier this month (click here). Mr Lima was hugely affected, both psychologically and financially, by the tragedy. He now says he will be able to replace the goats he lost – even buy a few more. “It’s a great help”, he told journalists. “I wasn’t expecting it, least of all so quickly”. Said the Ordem’s president Jorge Cid: “We are very happy we were able to help in record time…”
