With most of the government in South Africa, ostensibly warming up for Portugal Day celebrations on Saturday, minister for internal administration José Luís Carneiro will be flying in the other direction, to commemorate the date in Venezuela. Mr Carneiro will be in Venezuela, taking part in “diverse activities with the Portuguese community in Caracas, Valencia and Los Teques” and making “contacts with local entities” between Thursday June 8 and Sunday June 12. This means he will be absent from the celebrations in Portugal on Saturday, which will be attended by colleagues currently in South Africa.
