Vehicle falls into Guadiana River after driver forgets to put handbrake on

A Spanish driver saw his van falling into the Guadiana River on Friday (January 2) after he forgot to put the handbrake on.

The vehicle was parked at the Ayamonte docks, but due to strong winds and the fact that the handbrake was not engaged, it was pushed into the Guadiana and quickly drifted away from the river bank.

The driver tried to use a boat he owns to retrieve the vehicle but to no avail.

Spanish authorities will attempt to remove the boat from the river today.

Maritime authorities in Vila Real de Santo António were also warned and have offered their full support if needed.

According to Correio da Manhã tabloid, removing the van won’t be easy as the currents are strong and the vehicle may be buried in the river mud.
