The V3 road linking Alvor to Vau in Portimão is to undergo €272,000-worth of repairs, mostly to pavements.
According to Portimão council, work will be carried out between the Três Castelos and Simon Bolívar roundabouts.
The bulk of it will involve the creation of a lane designed especially for people with physical disabilities.
Elsewhere, several dead pine trees will be removed and three pedestrian crossings will be “raised” in a bid to slow traffic as it approaches.
The work should begin soon and take around four months to complete.
