THE COLOURFUL, fibre glass cows that are dotted around Lisbon, following the CowParade in June, have been given an unwelcome spray of paint from graffiti vandals. Several of the 101 cows, which are to be auctioned at the end of September in aid of various charitable institutions, were originally hand painted by leading Lisbon artists and have now been taken to a depot, labelled the ‘Cow Clinic’, in Dona Estefânia, for ‘treatment’. The cows in Lisbon’s Baixa Chiado and Rossio areas were the most affected by the acts of vandalism.
