Águas do Algarve, the region’s water supply company, has been criticised by Sander van Gelder, chairman of the Vale do Lobo Group, for mismanaging its project to reinforce the water supply for Quinta do Lago, Almancil and Vale do Lobo. The work, on the road between Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago, has been halted, only to resume after the summer. He claims that the water company is disrespecting the investors and tourists in the area.
Van Gelder is “extremely annoyed” because long queues of traffic are now common, as cars slowly manoeuvre around the works, and the luxurious façade of the development has been marred.
Meanwhile, to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Vale do Lobo, the chairman wanted to host a summer beach party, but the proposal was rejected by Loulé Câmara. It seems that van Gelder must now concentrate on successfully hosting the Vale do Lobo Grand Champions Millennium bcp tennis tournament next month.
